Plantar Fasciitis is a common injury that can persist for years unless treatment is properly addressed. Plantar Fasciitis is an acute form of inflammation of the band of tissue running across the bottom of your foot.

At the end of the 2009 school year, (I'm a teacher) I developed plantar fasciitis in my right foot. I remember literally being in agony the last day of school and calling my orthopedic surgeon for an emergency appointment. Dear MendMeShop, I have plantar fasciitis, which began over 20 years ago and has gotten progressively worse. I stand for prolonged periods of time, often 5-8 hrs a day as a fine arts painter.
Spent approximately $1000 for various custom made inserts, tried several types of expensive shoes supposedly designed for plantar fasciitis, had two sessions of physical therapy at different clinics, sought treatment with a podiatrist who mainly wanted to do an expensive surgical procedure and offered no other treatment than more inserts. Dear MendMeShop, I've wanted to get this unit since mid-November, but had been wrestling with my insurance carrier over what kind of coverage I would get. They kept putting up obstacles & adding requirements, and my podiatrist agreed with me that they were just playing games. Dear MendMeShop, Two years ago, I was diagnosed with Achilles Tendonitis and Plantar Fasciitis, I have no idea as to how I became injured, but it was there and it became so difficult to walk at times, especially after getting up from a resting position that I had to seriously address it. I went to a podiatrist and after trying several treatments such as physical therapy, prescription orhtotics and acupuncture there was no improvement, so the subject of surgery was suggested by the podiatrist. I was totally opposed to surgery.
